Hefted! is an eight-episode series produced in collaboration with researchers at Durham University. It has been listened to nearly 1,000 times since launch two weeks ago.
The show is based on a series of eleven oral histories recorded as part of an earlier research project, as well as five additional interviews I carried out specifically for the project.
I worked with the Prof Chris Gerrard and Dr Chris Dalglish to develop a successful proposal for the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council’s ‘follow-on funding’ grant stream, stewarding the podcast from start to finish.
My services included:
thematic analysis of oral histories and organisation into eight episodes;
script-writing in collaboration with the research team;
contracting and directing the presenter;
contracting and sourcing the show artwork and music;
drafting, editing and mixing all episodes; and
uploading and distributing episodes across podcast channels.
Less and Better? is an award-winning eight-episode series co-produced with Katie Revell for Farmerama Radio.
The show is based on original interviews conducted with a wide range of people, including farmers, researchers, and entrepreneurs, and has over 41,000 listens.
Working with Farmerama, I was integral to conceiving the idea for the podcast, developing a successful application for funding from the A Team Foundation and the Roddick Foundation, and was responsible for both project management and production. Katie and I have signed a contract to turn the show into a book.
Alongside my co-producer and the rest of the team at Farmerama, I:
conducted extensive research;
developed a novel collaborative podcast presentation format;
wrote the script for the show;
recorded narration for the show;
sourced and contracted show artwork and music; and
drafted all episodes.
